There are several UN treaties and conventions that relate to arms. The most related treaty to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) because of many reasons described in the other post “The Explanatory Note for the Draft of the International Standards”. The following UN treaties are related to arms, but the scope is not mentioning the UAS.
First:
The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is scoped for nuclear weapons and to decrease the danger of nuclear war.
Second:
Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty is scoped for “not to carry out any nuclear weapon test explosion or any other nuclear explosion, and to prohibit and prevent any such nuclear explosion at any place under its jurisdiction or control.”
Third:
The Treaty on The Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is scoped for prohibiting nuclear tests from developing, transferring, receiving, threatening to use, assisting, or seeking to receive nuclear help.
Fourth:
Convention on The Prohibition of The Development, Production, and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and On Their Destruction is scoped for biological weapons.
Fifth:
Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation, Chemical Weapons Convention, to reduce the existence of Ballistic Missile Proliferation.
Sixth:
Chemical Weapons Convention is scoped for Chemicals arms.
Seventh:
Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production, and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction is scoped to prohibit the use of anti-personnel mines or developing it or assisting or encouraging it.
Eighth:
The convention prohibits all use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of cluster munitions and is scoped to prohibit the use of cluster munitions or developing it or assisting or encouraging it.
